Tweeps-Experts

I choice to follow experts the early childhood education field. Since I am studying to be a teacher in the area of grades K through grade 3. The two experts that I chose are Sue Bredekamp and Karen Nemeth.

Dr. Sue Bredekamp is women who put together NAEYC's developmentally appropriate practice (DAP) as ways of teaching children that not only reflect what is known about how young children develop but that also contribute to children development and learning. She added that both of these concepts - development and learning - imply some form of a continuum of progress in children. The teacher needs a knowledge of normative expectations for the whole child's development, including the interacting social, physical, cognitive, and language domains, combined with awareness of children individual variations. I chose her because I am apart of Yavapai College NAEYC group on campus. In being in this cut throat field you want everything possible that will make you look better than you competitors and knowing all the new information will help your successes. Here is the link were I found my information on Dr. Sue Bredekamp: http://www.highscope.org/Content.asp?ContentId=552

Karen Nemeth is the author of "Many Languages, One Classroom." Karen has dedicated most of her work to helping teachers break that the language barriers in their classroom. In today's society, one teacher could have up to three different home langages in his or her classroom. With the culture differences in the world it sometimes makes it hard to communicate with a parent and/or student whose home languages is different then English in the classroom. Many of times English is the second language in many homes for different ethnics groups. Hello Everyone,

For my first blog, Im going to give all of you a little insite on my life. I'm Laurean, its pronounced the same as Lauren, I put this on here because everyone mispronounces it. Im 20 years old, I recently moved here from a small town west of Toledo, Ohio. I moved to here to be fiance' Andrew, and he attends Embry-Riddle. I am in the beginning stages of planning our wedding which is May 25, 2013. Im very excited to be in this class and try a new way of learning. Learning in different ways excites me, the same boring lectures don't, so Im really glad to see a new fun way of learning.
